i am an international student from hong kong.. i am now a 4th year student from SFU studying economics minor in sociology. i came to canada since 1997 and study recieve high school education in canada.. i want to know what are the possibilites for me to success to become an immigrant?? will i get a chance to reach 67 points? my uncle and aunt and cousins have received permanent resident since 1998... will i get any points from them??
i am on work study program in SFU now... have been working for half a year already, i think i will be able to continue working at the lab as a research assistant... and also i have just applied for a off-campus work permit...
i will be graduating from SFU next year (2007) and i would like to apply as immigrant, do i have any chance??

Hi, Chacco:
In order to be eligible to make application under skill worker category, you would need at least one-year(full time or equivalent) of work experience.
Yes, you will receive extra points because your uncle is in Canda, you will also get points for having studied in Canada.
At the present time, if your IELTS could score 12 potins , you will be able to meet the required 67 threshold.
